Santa Run

On Sunday the 26th of November, several members of the Quarrymen embarked on a very wet ride around the province of Dorset, meeting lodge members and receiving donations to our charitable cause. This event was organised and hosted by our Charity Officer, Tony Collins and was to raise funds to support dementia patients in Bournemouth & Poole NHS Trust.

Many of the Quarrymen embraced full Santa mode and dressed up for the occasion. The smiles on the faces of all the children (both young and old) warmed our souls as we navigated the wet roads as they filled with Christmas shoppers headed to town.

As we made our way we were greeted with hot drinks and mince pies at the lodges buildings and the hospitality was greatly received. We even managed to stay on schedule (ish) as we moved around the province and converging on the Bakers Arms pub car park, so we could ride together to our final destination at Bournemouth Hospital.

We were met at the hospital with great enthusiasm, even being greeted by some of the nursing staff who work on the ward. They even let us come in to dry off and have a chat about how the day had gone. All before sneaking back into the rain for a photo of us all at the end of the ride.

The Quarrymen would like to extend a warm thankyou to all the lodges in Dorset that supported us in this years Santa run. Every single donation was appreciated and will do so much good for the patients over the coming year.
