Throughout life there are special occasions to treasure for family and friends. They are even more welcome when it comes to Freemasonry as it only strengthens the bond between brothers.
Last night was one of those special occasions not only for The Martins and the Lodge of St Cuthberga 622 but also the members of the Quarrymen that attended.
An introduction to The Martins. In no particular order you have Granddad Bro Bill Stacey, Dad Bro Keith Martin, Younger brother WBro Dan Martin PPrGStwd, Older brother and initiate Bro Philip Martin and his father in law Bro Bob Manton
The Martins journey into Freemasonry started in 2014 when WBro Dan Martin was initiated into the Lodge of St Cuthberga 622. WBro Dan quickly rose through the ranks of this fantastic lodge thanks to his outstanding ability and the hard work he puts into learning his ritual. Next into the Lodge of St Cuthberga 622 was Bro Bill who thoroughly enjoys each meeting and is an excellent Freemason. After a number of years of WBro Dan and Bro Bill being in Freemasonry, Bro Keith Martin was then initiated in Lodge of St Cuthberga 622. Again Bro Keith is rising through ranks nicely and is currently the dining steward. He does a fantastic job not only at the festive board but also in the temple as on numerous occasions he has had to do some key parts of ritual in a number of different ceremonies which is a testament to not only Bro Keith and The Martins but also to the Lodge of St Cuthberga 622 for the way they entrust their newly made brothers with assisting and supporting them in the ceremonies. Then last night Bro Philip Martin was initiated into Lodge of St Cuthberga 622 and we are all sure he will go on to be yet another superb mason and follow in his family’s footsteps.
With 71 Freemasons in attendance and 9 Quarrymen making up part of the visitors it was a very special evening for all. With thanks to Worshipful Master, WBro. Brandon Evans who allowed WBro Dan to initiate Bro Philip his older brother and also thanks to Bro Matt Furby who allowed Bro Keith to assume the chair of JD and play a big part in their ceremony by taking Bro Philip around throughout.
Once the ceremony was complete and we had taken all the photos which was a task in itself due to the high number in attendance we then moved onto the festive board where the atmosphere was incredible. The visitors were made to feel very welcome throughout the evening. All in attendance had a great time celebrating Bro Philips special evening.
On behalf of the Quarrymen I would like to thank the Worshipful Master, WBro Brandon Evans and his officers for putting on yet another fantastic evening and to the brethren of the Lodge of St Cuthberga 622 for the kind and friendly manner they welcomed all 39 visitors to their amazing lodge.
Bro Phillip we wish you all the best on your journey through Freemasonry and we look forward to seeing you progress in the footsteps of your family.
Finally, thank you WBro Dan and the Lodge of St Cuthberga 622 for the invite and we will see you all again very soon.
