A post by member Mark Thompson about his trip to a Devon lodge
Sun was shining, and there was a cold in the air. The bike was packed with masonic regalia and a few warm clothes. I’d set the phones sat nav to North Devon as I was heading to Holsworthy to visit the Conciliation lodge 3483 that had started my masonic journey a few years ago after attending their ladies’ night in Bude as a non-mason. The lodge building was warm, and the brothers were very welcoming, as I entered with my friend.. The bar was open, and I had a swift pint and chatted with several members of the lodge before donning my apron and entering the temple. The Wm opened the lodge, and what followed was a superb second degree..
At the festive board, having eaten our Christmas dinner, we turned out laughter to a bit of Carol singing. The Wm assigned each sprig of tables to a verse within a song.. (Some very out of tune singing was done).. I was stitched up for the visitor’s toast (lots of very important people there) as the only visiting Master Mason. I conducted a reasonable toast and had them all laughing at the end.. And in true fashion we stayed for several hours afterwards, drinking and playing spoof for the next set of rounds.. I would like to thank the Conciliation lodge 3483 for hosting a brilliant meeting followed by and superb festive board..
